Gushing Over Christina Lauren

My Collage.jpg

Have you ever had an author that no matter what they publish, you automatically buy? For me, one of those authors (or in this case, author duo) is Christina Lauren.

Consisting of Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings, Christina Lauren writes the most amazing, witty, sexy, and laugh out loud hilarious romance books. I have read almost all of their books, and all are rated either 4 or 5 stars!

I first ran across these two ladies during the Twilight fanfiction days, when Beautiful Bastard was known as The Office (and when I was probably a bit too young to be reading such content…oops!). When I found out this fanfiction story was being published, I was ecstatic. I have been a huge fangirl of these two women ever since! I recommend their books to anyone who loves romance (and even those who claim they don’t!).

So, without further ado, let’s talk about these books, my ratings, and what I loved about each one that I’ve read!

Beautiful Series

Beautiful Bastard
(#1) – (★★★★★)
Couple: Chloe & Bennett
What I Loved: The “enemies to lovers” and “boss/employee” romance tropes really shines through in this novel. These are two of my all-time favorite tropes, and to watch them entwine and truly work in this story was incredible. I read this book in less than a day. It was my first Christina Lauren book, and from that moment on, I was hooked!

Beautiful Bitch (#1.5) – (★★★★)
Couple: Chloe & Bennett – novella

Beautiful Stranger (#2) – (★★★★★)
Couple: Sara & Max
What I Loved: I loved how committed to Sara and their relationship Max was – from the very first moment! It was really sweet to read about a man who is crazy over a woman and is willing to do anything to be with her!

Beautiful Bombshell (#2.5) – (★★★★)
Couple(s): Chloe & Bennett; Sara & Max – novella

Beautiful Player (#3) – (★★★★★)
Couple: Hanna & Will
What I Loved: Is it bad if I say the whole entire book? This has held the spot of my favorite Christina Lauren book for almost 4 years. I loved how romance-shy Hanna was, and I loved how completely entranced Will was by Hanna. This had a mix of friends-to-lovers and sibling’s best friend tropes, and I still think about this book regularly!

Beautiful Beginning (#3.5) – (★★★★)
Couple: Chloe & Bennett – wedding novella

Beautiful Secret (#4) – (★★★★★)
Couple: Ruby & Niall
What I Loved: I loved that this is unlike any of the other Beautiful Series books – I also loved how genuinely sweet and almost naive Niall was when it came to women. I enjoyed watching him progress from a shy  guy to a total flirt. Plus, Ruby’s personality is unlike any other.

Beautiful Boss (#4.5) – (★★★★)
Couple: Hanna & Will

Beautiful (#5) – (★★★★★)
Couple: Pippa & Jensen
What I Loved: I loved how everything was tied together so neatly in this final installment in the series. Plus, seeing Pippa make a complete fool of herself in front of Jensen was comedy at its finest!

Wild Seasons

Sweet Filthy Boy (#1) – (★★★★★)
Couple: Mia & Ansel
What I Loved: Ansel. Ansel. Ansel. Ansel. Ansel. Has there ever been a more compassionate and romantic man? I cannot say enough great things about Ansel. Mia’s character development is incredible, too.

Dirty Rowdy Thing (#2) – (★★★★★)
Couple: Harlow & Finn
What I Loved: I loved seeing Harlow come undone from her badass, warrior-self to completely fall in love with Finn. The “will they, won’t they” and “push and pull” of this book really hooked me, as well.

Dark Wild Night (#3) – (★★★★★)
Couple: Lola & Oliver
What I Loved: I loved how I connected with this book – as a fellow nerdy girl, I really felt like Lola was my novel-twin. And I especially loved how Oliver was so in love with Lola before she ever fell completely for him. Those types of romances make me swoon. There’s just something about a man loving a woman so dearly before she ever even realizes her feelings that really does it for me!

Wicked Sexy Liar (#4) – (★★★★)
Couple: London & Luke
What I Loved: The slow progression of London and Luke’s relationship was a nice change of pace and really refreshing. I like how reserved London was – it reminded me a lot of myself and how I approach relationships.

Standalone Books

Roomies – (★★★★★)
Couple: Holland & Calvin
What I Loved: I loved the text messages Holland and Calvin sent each other. I listened to this on Scribd, and let me tell you, I was seriously blushing!

Love and Other Words – (★★★★★)
Couple: Macy & Elliot
What I Loved: I loved reading about Macy and Elliot falling in love in the flashback scenes. Those scenes really made the entire book for me! It was great to watch these two children’s friendship slowly progress to first love.

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating – (★★★★★)
Couple: Hazel & Josh
What I Loved: I loved how wild, crazy, and utterly insane Hazel was, and how she didn’t feel the need to apologize for it. On the other side of that coin, I loved how accepting Josh was of her, and didn’t ever want to change who she was.

My Favorite Half-Night Stand  – (★★★★)
Couple: Millie & Reid
What I Loved: The friend group really stole the show of this book. It reminded me a lot of my experience reading the Beautiful Series, and it made me realize how much I missed a full ensemble cast of characters.

The Unhoneymooners – (★★★★★)
Couple: Olive & Ethan
What I Loved: Again, can I say the whole book? This is probably my second-favorite Christina Lauren book. I listened to the audiobook of this one as well, and I found myself literally laughing out loud so many times because the dialogue between these two characters was to die for! There were so many great one-liners that had me rolling!

Haven’t Read Yet (But Own)

I have no excuses, but I need to get to these two as soon as possible:

Dating You/Hating You

And there you go! I honestly cannot say enough great things about these two wonderful ladies! Every time they release a book, I buy it the day of its release and try to read it as soon as possible! I can’t wait for future books, because I already know they will be some of my favorites!

Have you read any of Christina Lauren’s books? If so, which ones and what did you think? Also, what are some romance books/authors that you love? Let me know in comments!

Happy reading!
