Hello, everyone! I hope you all are doing well. There’s a topic that was featured on the Top Five Wednesday Goodreads group and floated around BookTube awhile ago, and the more I think about it, the more wonderful this sounds.
In honor of school approaching quickly, in honor of me starting graduate school, and in honor of me getting my first teaching job (high school English), I’m going to talk about the five fictional schools that I’d like to attend if they were real or if I were part of an alternate universe.
1. School of America in Paris (SOAP) from Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
I fell in love with not only the characters in this book, but also the school! I’m not sure it’s because it’s in Paris, the most romantic place ever, or if it’s because the whole boarding school setting is appealing to me. Nevertheless, I loved everything about this school. It seemed like the perfect place to learn and the perfect place to meet new people. The school made the book even better, I believe. If I could go back to high school and redo those four years, I’d want to attend SOAP.
2. The Shadowhunter Institute, either in New York or London, from The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
Y’all… I love TMI and TID. These two tie for my favorite series of all time. I desperately want to be a Shadowhunter, and sometimes, I just wish that this entire world could exist. And if it did, you know that I’d be learning at the Shadowhunter Institute. I don’t even care which one. I love the New York Institute and I love the London Institute. I can’t say about the Los Angeles Institute because I haven’t read Lady Midnight yet, but I’m sure I’d want to attend there, too.
3. Hogwarts from the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
I mean, what else is there to say? Doesn’t everyone want to go to Hogwarts? I’d be in Slytherin, so says basically every House Sorting quiz ever. I wouldn’t be a Death Eater, but I’d date Draco Malfoy and get him away from his awful father. I’d try to beat Hermione for top of the class. I’d be a boss witch. I’d be awesome. It would be the best life ever, I think.
4. St. Vladimir’s Academy from the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead
I don’t know if I’d be a dhampir or a vampire. If I were a dhampir, I’d want to have Dimitri instead of Rose having him. If I were a vampire, I’d either want Christian Ozera or Adrian Ivashkov. Either way, this school seems awesome. They have to go to classes at night because of vampires not being able to be out in the sun. The dhampirs do badass training. And the vampires learn incredible things. It just seems like an action packed school with interesting drama and great boyfriend material.
5. Forks High School from the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
DON’T HATE ME. See where I’m coming from, first. Wouldn’t it be kind of cool to attend Forks High School and see just what all the hype about the Cullens actually is all about? I’d like to meet Bella and see if she’s as boring as she’s described in the books. I’d like to meet the Cullens and see how bizarre they actually are. I’d like to be in on all the craziness that goes down in the books, and either participate or laugh from the sidelines. And I’d like to see if it rains as much as the books say.
That’s it! What schools would you like to attend? Let me know in comments!
See you next time, and happy reading!
