Massive March Book Haul…So Far

Obviously, I love books. But do you know what’s even better than buying books? Buying books that are cheap. I rarely ever spend full price on a book, and if I do, it’s because I really, really want to read it. Most of the time, though, I buy my books at Barnes and Noble or Books-a-Million when they’re on sale, on Amazon or, or simply at Goodwills in the Memphis and surrounding areas (and we also have two local Goodwill bookstores).

So, in my March book haul of the books I’ve bought so far, the most expensive books was about $5, and I got it at Books-a-Million. I think that’s pretty worth it, considering how expensive books can be.

So without further rambling, here are the books that I’ve obtained in March so far.

Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling
I got this book at Goodwill for I believe $3.99. For the past few months, I’ve become obsessed with The Office, and I love Mindy Kaling’s character, and in interviews, she seems so down to earth. I’ve heard great things about her books, so I’m really excited to read this soon.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I’ve been wanting to read this book for awhile. From what I can tell on Goodreads, it basically is a love story revolving around a circus and possibly a competition, and for right now, that’s all I really want to know. I want to be surprised when I read it, and according to the ratings, it’s a fantastic book. I got it at Goodwill for $2.99, and the book is in great condition.

Gabriel’s Inferno and Gabriel’s Rapture by Sylvain Reynard
I bought the third book, Gabriel’s Redemption, some time in February, but a few days ago, I found Gabriel’s Inferno and Gabriel’s Rapture at a Goodwill Bookstore for $2.99 each. I’ve been dying to read these – absolutely dying! I’m already 3/4 done with the first book, and it’s absolutely amazing. One of the best books I’ve ever read. The first book revolves around a professor and his graduate student and their eventual love affair. I don’t want to say much more because it gives away the plot, but if I ever recommend a trilogy to anyone, it would be this one!

Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler and illustrated by Maira Kalman
Ever since I saw this book in Barnes and Noble a few years ago, I’ve been wanting to read it. It has mixed reviews on Goodreads, but I don’t care. This past weekend, I was at Books-a-Million, and it was on sale for $4.97. I had to have it. The illustrations in it are absolutely gorgeous. As far as I know, it tells the story  of why a girl and a boy broke up, and I love that it has the illusion of not being a “happily ever after” story. I can’t wait to read this…soon!

Confess by Colleen Hoover
I’ve been searching and searching for a Colleen Hoover book forever, and when I found this one on sale for either $3 or $4, I grabbed it before even reading what it was about. I still don’t really know what it’s about, but according to the reviews on Goodreads, it’s an amazing book. I know it’s a New Adult novel, and for some reason, those and Young Adult novels are my all time favorites. I know I’ll love this book, and like the others on this list, I can’t wait to read it.

A Beautiful Wedding by Jamie McGuire
I loved, loved, loved Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster. If you hop over to my book boyfriends post, you’ll see that Travis Maddox made the cut. I adore him and the story and his and Abby’s relationship. So when I saw this novella for only $3 at Books-a-Million, I couldn’t resist. I can’t wait to dive back into the world of Abby and Travis and read about their Vegas wedding!

Beautiful Secret and Beautiful Bombshell by Christina Lauren
I haven’t read any of the books in this series, but I’ve been trying to collect all of them for the LONGEST time so I can one, read them in order, and two, not have to wait before moving along to the next book in the series. I found both of these at Books-a-Million for around $2 or $3 each, I couldn’t say no. I grabbed the last copy of Beautiful Secret, so I’m definitely proud about that! I only need three or four left in the series before I can finally begin reading them. I think this book series is the one I’m most anticipating out of my TBR bookcase. The covers are beautiful, and from what I’ve read on Goodreads, the novels are phenomenal!

Atonement by Ian McEwan
This is one of my favorite novels ever. It’s a historical romance that deals with so, so many issues and problems that I can’t begin to explain because I won’t do it justice. I read it for a Contemporary British Literature class I took last semester, and I completely fell in love with it. I had the mass-market paperback edition with the movie poster for the cover, and I hate mass-market paperbacks. They’re tiny and they look terrible on my shelf. So, at Goodwill, I found it for $2.99 in its original edition, so I had to pick it up. It looks much nicer on my shelf, for sure.

Legend and Prodigy by Marie Lu
Honestly, I’m not even sure what these books are about, but they’ve received so much hype on BookTube and Goodreads that I thought, “Why not?” They were about $3 each at two separate Goodwills and they’re both in pretty good condition. I know I’ll enjoy this series once I obtain the last book of the series and sit down to read it.

The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
I’m really excited to read this! I’ve heard nothing but great things, and from what I’ve heard on BookTube, it’s a novel about a romance during WWII, which really excites me! I’ve heard it’s really well written, something that I find refreshing and alluring about romances. I just need books two and three, but I scooped this up when I found it at Goodwill for $3.

Seduced By Fire
by Tara Sue Me
Like the Beautiful Series, I’m trying to collect all the books in this series. It’s a little more difficult to find the books, but I found this at Goodwill for $3, which seems to be the standard Goodwill price. I know it’s an erotic romance dealing with a Dominant/Submissive relationship, and I’m hoping it’ll be better than Fifty Shades of Grey. I’m excited to read it, but I won’t read it until I collect all the books in the series.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
I really, really like Jenny Han, and ever since this book was published, I’ve wanted to read it. I love YA Contemporary novels, and I love Jenny Han as an author and storyteller. This is a two-set series, but I found the first of the two at Goodwill for, you guessed it, $3. The cover is adorable, and I’ve heard nothing but fabulous things about this book.

The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski
I’ve heard this is one of the best New Adult Contemporary Romances out there at the moment, and honestly, for being at Goodwill, I’d say it’s in perfect condition. I don’t think anyone has ever even opened the cover before. I’m not sure what it’s about to be honest, but the cover is pretty, and it was $3, and I love New Adult novels. There’s a second book in the two-set series, but I’ve seen it many times at Goodwills, so I know it won’t be difficult to find, and I’ll be getting it for a great price, too.

Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, and Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead
I’ve been wanting to read the Vampire Academy Series for awhile, so when I found books two, three, and six in the series at a Goodwill bookstore in Midtown, Memphis, I grabbed all three. Books two and three were $3 each, and book four, because it’s a hardback, was $4. I know the others will be easy to find, and I’ve heard great things about this series and Richelle Mead as an author, so whenever I collect all the books, I’m hoping it’ll be an engaging read. The only thing I’m disappointed about is that the books I found were of these covers to the left, not the newer, simpler, and much more beautiful covers. Sometimes you can get away with having people on the front covers, but in this case, it’s cringe worthy.

Misbehaving by Abbi Glines
This is part of the Sea Breeze series that I just recently started. I have books one and two, and Misbehaving is book six or seven, I believe! I just began reading Abbi Glines, and she’s such a fun, creative author! She’s written so many books, so finding her books in Goodwills and other bookstores is relatively easy. When I found this for $4 in Books-a-Million, I grabbed it. Her books are sexy, fun, and a quick, stress free read.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone and Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor
To be honest, I’m not quite sure what these books are about. I do know they’re fantasy, and they have great reviews on Goodreads. Plus, they’re talked about so incredibly highly on BookTube that I went ahead and got them. I believe one of  them was $4 and the other was $3, but I don’t remember which was which. They were at Books-a-Million, and the covers are so striking. Now, I just need to find the third book of the trilogy, then I can begin reading!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling…IN HEBREW!
Yes, I know what you’re thinking… Can I really read these books? Of course not. I don’t know an ounce of Hebrew. However, whenever I see Harry Potter books in a different edition than what I have or in a different language, I get them, just because I love the series that much. They were $4 a piece in Goodwill, and it was such a rare find that I squealed. Literally squealed. Now I have two Hebrew books and one Spanish book. Many more languages to go!

So that’s my March book haul so far! I’m planning to go to Barnes and Noble tomorrow to check out their sale items, and then hopefully soon I’ll be making a trip to Nashville to hit up McKay’s Bookstore. I’ll be sure to document that trip! Thanks for reading, and if you have any book recommendations, let me know.
